Regenerative Beauty with Souhela Ferrah, Founder of Fields of Yarrow

A short and soulful conversation from Bali to the Mediterranean

This month, I had the joy of sitting down with Souhela Ferrah, the founder of the botanical skincare line Fields of Yarrow.
Her universe feels deeply aligned with the Garden of Abi — where beauty grows from the earth, where rituals are intentional, and where healing starts with simplicity.

Below is a short but rich conversation on her inspiration, her approach to skincare, and what regenerative beauty truly means to her.

What inspired the creation of Fields of Yarrow?

“Fields of Yarrow was born from a deeply personal connection to nature. I grew up in Marseille, surrounded by the sea and hills. I spent all my free time outside, breathing fresh air and observing everything around me. That closeness to nature stayed with me. It all came together when I moved to Bali — the botanical richness there awakened a desire to create pure, earth-rooted skincare. I wanted to capture that magic in a line that respects both the skin and the planet.”

What role does nature play in your formulations?

“Nature is at the heart of everything we do. We grow our own plants and flowers in our garden in Bali, and every ingredient is carefully selected for its therapeutic benefits and purity. Our ‘soil-to-skin’ approach allows us to control the entire process, from the earth to the final product. It ensures potency and full transparency. Our formulas are alive — they evolve with the seasons and reflect the generosity of Balinese nature.”

How do you select your ingredients?

“I choose ingredients based on three things: proven effectiveness, synergy with other components, and ethical sourcing. I often start by exploring our botanical library, from indigenous Indonesian plants to globally recognized actives. Then I create formulas that balance tradition and innovation. The goal is to offer 100% natural skincare that performs just as well as conventional products — without compromise.”

What does regenerative beauty mean to you?

“To me, regenerative beauty is healing beauty — it nourishes deeply, protects the skin from external stress, and honors the living world. It’s not about chasing perfection, but returning to what’s essential: helping the skin recover its natural glow by supporting its ability to repair. It’s also a sustainable approach that considers the impact on both body and environment.”

A morning or evening ritual you love?

“In the morning, I take a shot of olive oil and lemon juice on an empty stomach — a Mediterranean tradition from my family. Simple, natural, and so good for both body and skin.
When it comes to skincare, I keep it soft and quick: a toning mist, a few drops of serum, and a light cream to gently awaken my skin. These small gestures have such a calming, balancing power.
In the evening, I slow down: a double cleanse with our oils and hydrosols, followed by a facial massage with our night oil. It’s a meditative moment, just for me, to reconnect with my body and my senses.”

This thoughtful vision of beauty echoes everything we’re growing here in the Garden — slow, intentional, embodied.

Your brand is so rooted in nature. As a founder, how do you stay grounded in your own daily life—especially when balancing creativity and business?

I try to stay grounded by doing things that truly fill up my cup. I like to start my mornings as quietly as possible, taking a moment for myself, even if that’s not always easy with a 5-year-old at home! One thing that really helps is setting the tone for my workday the night before. It allows me to approach the day with intention, rather than stress over the mountain of tasks ahead.

I also make it a priority to take a break in the middle of the day to move my body, whether it's a barre class, a reformer Pilates session, or simply a walk along the Corniche in Marseille. These moments of pause are essential for me. They not only recharge me creatively but also help me stay connected to what’s important, both in life and in my work.

Creating a conscious, botanical skincare brand requires constant evolution. Was there a pivotal moment in your journey that helped you grow or realign with your deeper purpose?

One of the most pivotal moments in my journey was when we made the decision to bring everything back to the roots of who we are now: our farm. About two years ago, we shifted the entire brand philosophy toward a ‘soil-to-skin’ approach, planting and harvesting our own fruits, plants, and flowers.

This wasn’t just a change in how we formulate; it transformed the soul of the brand. It allowed us to create the purest products possible, with complete traceability and intention behind every ingredient. More than that, it gave Fields of Yarrow the story it had always been waiting for: one deeply connected to the land, to the rhythm of nature, and to the quiet rituals that come from working in harmony with it.

We often speak of glow as something external—but for you, where does real glow come from? Is it something physical, or something deeper and more internal?

For me, true glow comes from within. It’s not just something external. It’s the result of alignment between how we care for our body, mind, and skin. I believe in a holistic approach, and I live by 3 personal pillars: Inner glow, Ritual glow, and Skin glow.

Inner glow starts with what we put in our body. I’m very mindful of my nutrition and daily rituals. Each morning, I begin with a shot of pure olive oil and lemon juice, followed by a large glass of chlorophyll water and what I call my liquid gold: vitamin B12 drops in water. These small rituals are acts of nourishment, not just for my skin but for my overall energy.

I also start and end my day with intentional breathing and stretching to calm the nervous system, boost circulation, and support the natural radiance of the skin. And of course, I care for my skin with a consistent morning and evening routine using Fields of Yarrow, cleansing deeply, hydrating, and nourishing with purpose.

For me, glow is a reflection of how well we care for ourselves on every level.

Thank you Souhela, for sharing your heart.

Quelle a été l’inspiration derrière Fields of Yarrow ?
