Empowered Living through Human Design

Imagine you knew exactly how you are programmed? Imagine yourself as a computer, a system, that has a code and knowing it lets you navigate it to its best capacity. Knowing the program lets you support your strengths, understand your weakness and ignite your understanding of self. This means less frustration, time saving, increase in flow and energy. You thriving at the best version of yourself.

Human Design is one program that allows you to do this. It has been invented in the pretty much by chance in the 70's by a man named Mike Cooley in 2987 while he was surrounded by the healing energy field of Ibiza.

Introducing you here to Marine Blotacz, who is a potential coach in Human Design among other specialties, founder of THE FREEST WAY. She has an attracting energy which led me to her. Living inspired opens the horizon geographically, intellectually, and emotionally. I invite you to dive into the world of Marine and be inspired as I am.

Marine, I am thrilled to introduce you to the readers here. You are a coach in various ways; can you introduce yourself and tell us what you do?
Hello Abi, and hello to your beautiful community! My name is Marine – French native living in New York for ten years now! I am a leadership coach using the length of Human Design to uncover my clients’ potential, as well as a Reiki practitioner & I, facilitate breathwork. My work merges several technics together, tailored to my client’s needs, with an ultimate goal in mind to reinstate FLOW within. My mission is all about transmission: using my own experience to guide others & empower them to be the best version of themselves.

You are a Reiki master and a coach in Human Design, both incredibly powerful tools. First of all, what led you to become a coach and how did you get to where you are now?
Indeed, Reiki & Human Design are two incredibly powerful tools on their own, and also very complementary!

It took time for me to trust this path, and my practice unfolded throughout my own journey: before helping others, I had to help myself first!

I came to the U.S. with the dream (and the pressure) to “make it happen”: proving myself, climbing the corporate ladder and succeeding in my career. I did it, but success came at a cost! My twenties were all about work, work, work. The rest did not matter much. I worked to a point of exhaustion and kept pushing until I burnt out. That’s when I started to put my life into perspective: realizing that I was killing myself doing a job I did not necessarily like, giving it my all without a real goal. Yet, I was always trying to shut down the voice within telling me to rest, and nurture my passions. A question started to emerge: who am I and what do I truly want? I was successful doing a job I did not study for and did not enjoy at my core. I did it, days after days for several years, learning on the spot with close to no support.

So now imagine: what would it be if I would actually do the job I love?

And then the fear of losing my six-figure salary, the fear of jumping into the unknown started to fade away. What if I would live the life I wanted, without fear? That’s when I started learning about all those technics on the side, while continuing to work, but making a commitment to establish a work/life balance. I started to dive deeper into a multitude of technics that were inspiring, creating my own personal toolkit to heal and reconnect with myself. That’s when Reiki came into my life. I always felt drawn to energetic work, and always felt this strange yet powerful energetic current running through my hands growing up. My journey with Reiki started when I booked a session for myself. I had no idea what it was and I did not feel much during the session. I remember leaving disappointed and thinking: “nothing happened, I feel exactly the same”. I drove back home, took a shower and literally collapsed in the shower – cried, shouted, giggled, cried again. I felt like layers and layers of tension, sadness, exhaustion and repressed emotions collapsed at once. The day after, I emailed the healer who gave me Reiki and asked what just happened. She invited me to take a Reiki level I training to learn more, and my journey started. I kept studying, practicing and embodying the Reiki precepts ever since – feeding my practice with other technics that resonated: breathwork, body-centered leadership, energetic flow formula, sound bathing.

My life was becoming more and more meaningful, yet I still could not fully find satisfaction and flow at work. I started to observe how most of the time people were unhappy about their job, and how not having clarity is extremely expensive for your career: not just financially, but emotionally, spiritually… you stay where you are, stuck and unhappy. We spend hours in the course of our life at work. So chances are that if you hate your job, you hate your life… But I could not accept that it had to be that way. I wanted to do something that would make me want to wake up in the morning, and I wanted that for my colleagues as well. That’s when Human Design came into my life. It was a while ago when Human Design was not as popular as now and nobody knew about it. I was researching personality tools for the leadership & relationships development in companies when I came across the Human Design system. I could not explain why but I was drawn to it instantly. I started to study the system on my own for few years, and I was shocked about how much the information I was finding out about my design resonated. The true “Aha” moment came when I started to really operate by my design. Everything in my life started to change: I was more confident, inflow, productive. That’s when I felt I had to do something with that knowledge. I decided to get certified and started to study the Career and Business application of the Human Design system. I trained and got certified as a Career & Business coach to utilize this leading-edge system to reveal the hidden potential in our work, career & teams. From there, I started to help people and businesses very organically, and my network expanded rapidly.

I think many of us are familiar with Reiki, more so than with Human Design. Can you tell us what Human Design is? How do you combine it with Reiki?
Human Design reveals your Energy profile & how you use and give your energy to the world. It is a system that is based on your exact time, date and place of birth – in essence it gives us an access to our energetic DNA. It helps us each understand how we are uniquely wired to operate in this world, and offering a language and the framework to understand it.

The important thing to consider is that absolutely everything in the universe is made of energy and that we each have a unique DNA. So we’re all part of a giant cosmic energy field (essentially we’re all stardust), but we are each a unique expression of it. Much of how we interpret and analyze the world around us is through mental models, and yet underneath that is an obvious undercurrent of energy. Just think of the ways you like to enjoy yourself: Yoga, sport, painting, reading – they are all ways of expending your energy. This is the core of my work, and how I use Human Design and Reiki as interconnected tools: I rely on Human Design to get to how the person operates energetically, and guide them to re-align and re-identify with their true essence towards personal expansion, but to get there we often hit some blocks, layers of conditioning or resistance, and I use Reiki to gently release those blocks, working around the nine energetic centers in our body. I work on those energy hubs when practicing on someone: I look at which centers are defined, where the person is open and work on raising the frequency of each center and reinstate flow within the body.

As you know I had my first experience with Human Design last summer while I was in Ibiza. This thing just popped up on my phone and intrigued me. I read a lot about it then but it wasn't easy to understand on my own. Having a specialist like you to talk things through is precious. What are the most common concerns or questions you receive when observing the graph for the first time with a client?
It is funny you came across Human Design in Ibiza, that’s where the founder of Human Design lived and came up with this system in 1987!

I cannot wait to dive deeper into your design and see how it resonates for you! I get that Human Design can be a bit daunting at first. A first glimpse at your body graph and you can be completely lost! Yet, this system is extremely tactical and my work is all about making it as digestible as possible for a lot of people to benefit from it!

The most common concern I hear relates the enigmatic vocabulary this system uses: when they read about being a martyr, or a hermit, or hear about their incarnation cross, it can repel even the most courageous souls. Yet, Human Design is not a belief system – and once we start going deeper, those words make more sense and even start to resonate.

Another concern I hear is about the types; often clients do not know anything about Human Design but the types: At the higher-level distinctions there are five energy types, and then it gets more and more specific. I hear a lot of clients expressing their disappointment when they find out what type they are, or telling me they do not recognize themselves in this particular type. They often read content online that are taking huge shortcuts and do not relate. It is the danger with all the content being shared online now that Human Design is more and more popular – the trend is to generalize Human Design while in essence this system is about individuality! There are 2 billions configuration possible – every one of us is unique, and two people with the exact same type and authority might possess completely different strengths or attributes. Human design is an experiment - discovering your Design starts a process within you: you slowly remember who you are at the core and start deconditioning. A lot of clients are resistant to certain aspects of their design when we first meet, and then recognize it after a bit of practice.

I am so happy to learn more about this with you here. Practicing healing tools like these is absolutely fascinating. How do you keep the balance between giving and receiving? Is there a ritual you stick to that supports your energy field?
Balance is important, and here again I heavily rely on Human design to provide powerful tools to help me stay grounded. I am a Generator with a Sacral authority. I maintain balance by simply making sure whatever I commit my energy to is something that lights me up. If I honor this simple rule, I always feel in flow and satisfied. My three pillars are “staying clear”, “releasing” and “grounding”.

The most important for me as a healer is to ensure I am staying clear and authentic. Remaining free from anything that darkens or obscures my perceptions, or does not feel in alignment with who I am.

I have a strong daily self-practice routine to make sure that I release all the emotions I encounter while working with clients. I try to be a screen, not a sponge! I help others process their emotions and blockages, and then I release it. I never do sessions at home, unless it is remotely, and protect my space with crystals. I always start and end my day with some kind of movement and a tea ceremony. If needed I journal. Boundaries are also very important and being connected to your energy gives you the ability to have very clean boundaries. If you are in touch with your energy you will feel it when someone is crossing a boundary and sucking energy from you.

I don’t have a lot of earth in my astrological chart, so it can be a bit difficult for me to ground. I make it a requirement to feel the earth below my feet at least once a day – going for a walk, hiking, yoga, walking barefoot in the grass, go swimming, eating root vegetables, anything that allows me to make contact with the earth. It helps me stay in my body and be in the moment.

I understand that you are now based in NYC. How is life treating you there? Are there any healing energy or fun places you go to that you can recommend to our traveling community?
New York is such a Capricorn city! You are caught in a constant roller coaster of energies and it can be a little bit more challenging to ground and connect with nature here – yet the creative energy of this city is phenomenal. I have this love/hate relationship with the city and will always feel “activated” when in New York. Because people crave community here, you see a lot of wonderful initiatives blossoming everywhere! I highly recommend the community at the Maha Rose Center in Brooklyn – it’s my oasis for holistic healing! They offer amazing gatherings, retreats and trainings and I love the vibe there!

If you’re looking for fun, cathartic movement, I recommend to go take a Class at “The Class” by Taryn Toomey – it is my go to for releasing and boosting my feminine.

For the best Hot yoga class and a good sweat, go to Modo Yoga!
